“We absolutely love the Patagonia plain air paintings we purchased for our home. They bring us joy every day. Thank you Lucas for transporting us there with your brushes!”

This series would not have been complete without a painting of the aspen trees. In this more abstract piece, I wanted to capture the things that for me stood out about this beautiful trees. They always grow in groups (actually they are all just shoots from the same root system), their bark is a light green covered in a silvery powder that shines bright white with the sun, where branches grow out of the trunk a black mark remains, the way the golden leaves reflect the sunlight is as bright a yellow as we can ever see in nature. So vivid, so joyful, I fell in love with this tree. Painted in Kebler Pass oct 3rd, 5pm.
